Vygotsky Child-Parent Consulting and Learning Center successfully conducted Batch 11 of the “Know Your Child’s Brain” Course, an engaging learning programme designed to help parents, teachers, caregivers, and early childhood professionals better understand children's brains, emotions, behaviour, and development.
Facilitated by Priyanka Chaguthi, Parenting Coach, Early Years Educator, Teacher Trainer, and Founder of Vygotsky Nepal, the course provided participants with practical, brain-based insights into children's behaviour and emotional needs.
Children's behaviour is closely connected to their developing brains. Understanding how the brain develops and responds to emotions can help adults respond to children with greater awareness and empathy.
The “Know Your Child’s Brain” course introduces participants to brain-based approaches to understanding children's behaviour and emotional responses. Inspired by concepts from The Whole-Brain Child, the course helps participants connect knowledge of neuroscience and child development with everyday parenting and teaching situations.
Throughout Batch 11, participants explored important topics related to children's brain development and behaviour, including:
Understanding the developing brain
How children's brains influence their behaviour
Emotional responses and children's behaviour
Understanding children's big emotions
Brain development during early childhood
The connection between emotions, behaviour, and relationships
Supporting children during emotional overwhelm
Building emotional awareness and regulation
Responding to children's needs with greater understanding
Strengthening parent-child and teacher-child connections
Applying brain-based approaches in everyday situations
One of the key messages of the course was the importance of looking beyond children's behaviour and considering what may be happening in the child's developing brain and emotional world.
Children may struggle to regulate emotions, communicate their needs, or manage frustration because the skills required for self-regulation are still developing.
Understanding this developmental process can help parents, teachers, and caregivers respond more intentionally and support children as they gradually develop their own emotional regulation skills.
The course was designed to connect knowledge with real-life situations. Participants were encouraged to reflect on their experiences with children and explore practical ways to apply brain-based approaches at home, in classrooms, and in other caregiving environments.
The learning experience is particularly valuable for:
Parents and parents-to-be
Teachers and early childhood educators
Preschool teachers
Caregivers
School leaders
Child development professionals
Anyone interested in understanding children's behaviour and development
Children's development is influenced not only by what they learn but also by the relationships and environments around them.
By understanding children's developing brains, adults can become more responsive to children's emotional and developmental needs and create environments that support connection, safety, learning, and healthy development.
“Know Your Child’s Brain – Learn the Neurological Way to Deal with Children and Their Behaviour” is a signature learning programme of Vygotsky Nepal.
The course focuses on helping adults understand children's behaviour through the lens of brain development, emotions, relationships, and child development, with practical strategies that can be applied in everyday life.
Vygotsky Child-Parent Consulting and Learning Center congratulates all the participants of Batch 11 of the “Know Your Child’s Brain” Course for taking the opportunity to deepen their understanding of children's development and behaviour.
We hope the knowledge and insights gained through the programme will help participants build stronger connections with children and create more supportive environments for their growth and well-being.
Understanding the child's brain is a step toward understanding the child.
