1-day Online Workshop on ''Emotional Regulation & Positive Handling in Early Years " Batch-2

Vygotsky Child-Parent Consulting and Learning Center successfully conducted Batch 2 of the 1-Day Online Workshop on “Emotional Regulation & Positive Handling in Early Years”, facilitated by Ms. Priyanka Chaguthi, Parenting Coach, Early Years Educator, Teacher’s Trainer, and Founder of Vygotsky Nepal.

The workshop focused on helping parents, teachers, caregivers, and early childhood professionals better understand children’s emotions, behaviour, emotional regulation, and positive handling strategies.

Understanding the Emotion Behind the Behaviour

Young children experience big emotions while their ability to understand, express, and regulate those emotions is still developing. Understanding what lies behind a child's behaviour can help adults respond with greater awareness rather than reacting only to the behaviour itself.

The workshop explored practical approaches for creating emotionally safe and supportive environments where young children can feel understood, respected, and secure.

Vygotsky Nepal's programme focuses on emotional regulation, positive handling, self-regulation, empathy, behaviour management, and emotional well-being in early years settings.

Key Areas Covered in the Workshop

Participants explored important topics related to emotional regulation and positive handling, including:

  • Understanding children's emotions and emotional needs

  • Understanding the connection between emotions and behaviour

  • Why young children experience intense emotional reactions

  • Recognizing emotional triggers in early years

  • Supporting children during emotional overwhelm

  • Developing emotional regulation skills

  • Positive approaches to challenging behaviour

  • Responding instead of reacting

  • Building emotionally safe learning environments

  • Supporting children's social and emotional development

  • Teacher and caregiver self-regulation

  • Practical strategies for everyday classroom and home situations

The approach is consistent with Vygotsky Nepal's broader focus on strengthening the adults and systems around children rather than simply trying to change children's behaviour.

A Practical Learning Experience

The online workshop was designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and strategies that can be applied in everyday interactions with young children.

Whether working in a preschool, school, childcare setting, or home environment, adults play an i
