Parenting Session At Bal Bikash Secondary School

Vygotsky Child-Parent Consulting and Learning Center conducted an engaging Parenting Session at Bal Bikash Secondary School, facilitated by Priyanka Chaguthi, Parenting Coach, Early Years Educator, Teacher Trainer, and Founder of Vygotsky Nepal.

The session focused on helping parents develop a deeper understanding of children's behaviour, emotions, developmental needs, and parent-child relationships. It provided parents with practical insights and strategies to support their children's emotional, social, and overall development.

Understanding Children Through a Parenting Lens

Parenting is a continuous learning journey. As children grow, their emotional, social, behavioural, and developmental needs also change. Understanding these changes can help parents respond to children with greater awareness and create a stronger relationship with them.

The session encouraged parents to look beyond children's behaviour and consider the feelings, needs, developmental stage, and experiences that may influence the way children behave.

Key Areas Discussed

The parenting session covered important topics related to child development and positive parenting, including:

  • Understanding children's emotions and behaviour

  • Recognizing children's developmental needs

  • Building strong parent-child connections

  • Effective communication with children

  • Supporting children's emotional development

  • Understanding challenging behaviour

  • Positive approaches to behaviour management

  • Helping children develop emotional regulation

  • Creating a safe and supportive home environment

  • Encouraging confidence and independence

  • Developing positive and respectful parenting practices

  • Strengthening communication between parents and children

Building Stronger Parent-Child Connections

A strong relationship between parents and children develops through everyday moments of connection, communication, trust, and emotional availability.

The session encouraged parents to reflect on their interactions with their children and explore ways to become more responsive to their children's emotions and needs.

Parents were also encouraged to recognize that children may not always have the language or skills to clearly communicate what they are feeling. Understanding the emotions and needs behind behaviour can help parents respond with appropriate guidance and support.
